Community energy: services, solutions, support
SEA (Suffolk Energy Assessment) provides independent technical and financial support to parish councils, community interest companies, transition towns, development trusts, faith groups, and other community structures in the development of local renewable energy generation. We support community energy projects by, first, assessing the feasibility of developing a renewable energy installation and then maximizing its income-generating potential, so that local groups can put this to work for the wider community. We will be pleased to complete any or all of the following according to the scope of your community renewable energy project:
- assess community energy demand
- help identify suitable sites for your community's renewable energy generation installation
- undertake a feasibility survey for any / all proposed renewable energy (thermal and electrical) system options
- review all viable microgeneration technologies, including wind turbines, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, ground- and air-source heat pumps, gas combined heat and power (CHP) units, hydropower, anaerobic digestion, biomass, bio liquids, biogas, and bio-CHP
- project manage any / all aspects of a renewable energy system installation on your behalf
- advise on capital costs, Government grants, subsidies, funding, and investment potential available for renewable energy technologies, including the Rural Community Energy Fund, the Feed-in Tariff, and the Renewable Heat Incentive
- support planning applications, where planning permission is required
Community renewable energy enterprises empower local people and businesses to be less reliant on fossil fuels; to generate and utilize low-carbon and renewable energy at, or close to, point of use; and to boost the local economy through the generation of energy from a sustainable system under the community's control. Please contact SEA (Suffolk Energy Assessment) directly to discuss your community's renewable energy project in further detail.
